The Sensual Revolution is here!

Shall we dance? The front cover of The Sensual Revolution.
Right, I have finally published the first part of The Sensual Revolution and I have to tell you it is a very scary feeling. I know so much about Rose, Lisa, Josh and Fran that they have become like real people to both myself and my editor in chief - Jess. It is very scary to think that now they are at the mercy of the Amazon censorship people, the guidelines for publishing this kind of book are very vague. Pornography is forbidden and yet erotica is allowed, what is the difference between the two and who draws the line? I see my books as being erotica for sure and by definition to me this makes is slightly pornographic although there are no pictures or titles that indicate that.

I also had a slight hiccup with the launch in that I have been advertising this first book as free but it is not possible to list it as free from the outset. So I registered it into KDP Select on the lowest price possible with the intention of starting the free promotion as soon as it goes live... which I hope and hope will be before 10.00 am tomorrow morning!

So what is the first book in the series about, I hear you ask. I thought your first book was going to be called Rose? Well in some ways yes it is, this first book The Sensual Revolution is not actually the first proper book as such. It is instead a series of short stories about the first four books characters outlining how they were first introduced to The Sensual Revolution in Rosemont. It is in nature more of a prequel than an actual novel and as such is a fair bit shorter than the novels themselves. It is more in the nature of a taster really which begs the question of why I have these enormous butterflies in my stomach right now!

It is not only strange sharing your characters with the whole world, but you worry immensely that everyone else will see them the in the same favorable light that we do. Not only that, but it isn't just my characters that are now right in the public view (or will be tomorrow) but my writing style again. I have asked people to read the book before publishing and they seem to find the right bits funny and the right bits sensual, but what about the rest of the world? What if they hate it? It's a very scary thought, but I am coming to terms with it by thinking this: It has made several people smile already, myself included. If I can send my little book out into the world and it makes some people smile, or feel good in any way then my job has been done well. Most people wonder if they will build a legacy in their lifetime and I hope this will be mine. The power to change people's view points, to engage them, entertain them, to make them think and smile, or experience any emotion is a thrilling and terrifying prospect.

But the proof, as they say is in the reading. So I leave you with this, if you like my book, if it engages you and makes you feel strongly, please let me and the rest of the world know about it. The only way that The Sensual Revolution will go out and show people a small amount of uninhibited pleasure is if people spread the word...
